Sunny beaches off the beaten path in Chinese “Hawaii” island of Hainan. Spending in Hainan at least 14 days is advisable as the island is large and places to discover innumerable. I was part of a photo-shooting group that took us to smaller beaches and towns around the southern city of Sanya (三亚). Of course we visited the famous Dadonghai and Xiaodonghai, but the best exploration was in Meixicun (梅西村) – Jiaotouwan(角头湾) and Changyuanwan(长园湾). 15 km hike along the beach, splendid view, sunny weather and cordial locals lead us into the village as well and we were lucky enough to experience a local wedding. In Sanya we ascended to the peak and pagoda of Línchūnlǐng sēnlín gōngyuán (临春岭森林公园) in the middle of the city. Another intriguing destination was the Shimeiwan (石梅湾) beach in Wanning (万宁) where we spent amazing day surfing, swimming, and enjoying the energy of the sea. Sunsets at the beach in southern Hainan are beautiful and I could watch them every day.
