Lately my routine changed. I proudly announce Level up from absolutely random food. The ability of my Chinese reached point where I am able to order simple foods in a restaurant and the boss(lao ban) actually understands me 🙂 It has its flaws still, but makes me feel like my chinese and nutrition abilities are getting better.

Todays meal was ordered in my favorite Dumpling restaurant. Niou rou mien, bu la – Old lady running this small restaurant was a little confused and her “probably” husband loudly laughed without any shame. It took a considerable time – 15 minutes or so. But eventually a perfectly served and delicious noodles stood in front of me. Star anise was on top of thick noodle soup with green cabbage. Small slices of beef companied by strong smell of anise invited me to a great dinner.

P.S.: Many of you ask me how much is it for the food. I decided to put price tags to each food from now on and if my memory allows also enhance the previous Random food series posts.

SMoments Qijiang-Sanhui

From a great guy Jeremy that once surfed on my couch here in Chongqing I adopted idea to capture sound of a specific place and then add it to pictures. This way making a short video consisting from pictures and sound present on the site. Here are first two tries. Options set on defaults when creating the movies/slide shows.

First one is created in Windows Movie Maker – Qijiang

I am here in China already 4 months…And after that time you simply get used to different standard…like the take away food. It is not packed and delivered in separate boxes full of advertisements…You get always the same paper cup everywhere you go and half of the sauce will leak before you get home. Not to mention they put even the soup into the paper sup. It is almost like going to Starbucks and taking away soup instead of coffee in your paper cup.
This particular one consisted from fried cabbage, fried red spicy peppers and some kind of meat. Pretty spicy and half of the meal remained in the cup, cause it was literally bathing in oil. The rice was good though and I ate at least the whole cup of it. Can beat up the hunger but will nit satisfy your taste buds at all. Maybe next time they will be better.
